Posting Guidelines
Please note that the opinions, views and recommendations expressed on this online community does not necessarily represent those of Focus on the Family. Therefore, please exercise discernment and wisdom when reading the comments. In addition, we encourage community users to communicate with the respect, love and understanding that Christ would expect from us all.
Once a message is submitted, it will be reviewed and occasionally edited for content, length and privacy (but not for grammar or spelling). Once approved by our moderators, it will then be posted. This situation may cause a delay in posting, especially on Sundays and holidays. However, the process will prevent unwholesome and improper messages from being posted.
As online community has developed, we've discovered a need to establish a few guiding principles for our users and we ask that you respect the following:
- Do not use vulgar language.
- Avoid making derogatory comments about others, including your spouse or children, as it’s important that our online community uphold the sanctity of the marriage relationship and foster respect among family members.
- When posting about sexual matters, comments should be discreet, appropriate, and not overly detailed or personal.
- Because it is our goal to create a conversational atmosphere in our community, refrain from addressing topics that you would not be willing to bring up with a close, Christian friend or mentor. Also, please strive to maintain a tone like that you would use when speaking to a valued friend.
- No surveys, solicitations, personal research, or marketing of any kind are permitted.
- No recruiting from the Focus community to your personal Web site, forum or online community is allowed. In addition, do not post links to MySpace, Facebook or YouTube.
- Do not post any first or last names, e-mail addresses, personal Web site URLs, or any other information in the body of your post, or as your username, that might allow unscrupulous visitors improper access to you and your family.
- Comments on Focus on the Family's Online Community may not refer specifically to any current electoral candidate, or any measure on a current ballot – at any level of local, state, or federal government. Focus on the Family is a non-profit 501(c)(3) entity, and therefore cannot take a position on specific votes. Nor can we display any such statements on our Web sites. Likewise, we cannot discuss here the personal viewpoints of people like Dr. Dobson or Jim Daly on political candidates or ballot measures. Any posts to this forum which violate these rules will not be posted.
If you would like to contact our ministry directly, please feel free to do so from one of our FAQs.
Finally, as an additional measure to provide safety to our online community, we will not facilitate private contacts between visitors.
**Any and all exceptions to these guidelines will defer solely to the discretion of Focus on the Family.
