Gatherings and Retreats for Pastors

Nothing refreshes, encourages and renews a pastor and spouse like some time away with other pastoral couples.

Pastors and their families are at risk. Between their own high expectations and the expectations placed upon them by congregations, denominations and other family members, they can easily become disheartened, perplexed or burned out.

The Pastoral Ministries department of Focus on the Family understands because they have and do walk in the world of pastors. And they have found that there is great value in pastors and their spouses getting together with other pastoral couples in relaxing, informal sessions with no expectations other than to rest and make friends.

To that end, this department regularly sponsors complimentary half-day pastor-and-spouse gatherings in local communities across the country to provide a time of fellowship, affirmation and awareness that what they are experiencing is not unique and that they have loving colleagues nearby with whom they can find support.

Our Pastoral Ministries team also sponsors two or three regional pastor-and-spouse retreats each year that last three days at luxurious hotels and resorts. The emphasis is on relaxation and renewal, but there are also times of networking and encouragement.

Finally, this department also sponsors a variety of luncheons and dinners for pastors and chaplains in Colorado as it attempts to make a difference with those who minister in our own backyard.
