Contact us for more information and a free consultation to discuss what type of legacy gift might be best for your unique situation

Sample bequest language to use when assigning gifts to Focus on the Family

In order to make a bequest, we recommend you speak with your attorney. Your attorney can help you include a bequest to Focus on the Family in your estate plan. We have provided some basic bequest language to assist you and your attorney.

1. Bequests of a Specific Dollar Amount

If you would like to include a bequest of a specific amount of money to Focus on the Family, we suggest the following language:

I hereby give, devise and bequeath _________ dollars ($__________) to Focus on the Family, a nonprofit organization located at 8605 Explorer Drive, Colorado Springs, CO, 80920, Federal Tax ID #95-3188150, for Focus on the Family’s general use and purpose.

2. Bequests of a Percentage of Your Estate

If you would like to include a bequest of a percentage of your estate to Focus on the Family, we recommend the following language:

I hereby give, devise and bequeath ____ percent (___%) of my total estate, determined as of the date of my death, to Focus on the Family, a nonprofit organization located at 8605 Explorer Drive, Colorado Springs, CO, 80920, Federal Tax ID #95-3188150, for Focus on the Family’s general use and purpose.

3. Bequests of the Residue of Your Estate

If you would like to include a bequest of some or all of any remaining assets of your estate (after your specific bequests) to Focus on the Family, we recommend the following language:

I hereby give, devise and bequeath to Focus on the Family, a nonprofit organization located at 8605 Explorer Drive, Colorado Springs, CO, 80920, Federal Tax ID #95-3188150, ____ percent (___%) of the rest, residue and remainder of my estate to be used for Focus on the Family’s general use and purpose.

4. Contingent Bequests

If you would like to name Focus on the Family as a secondary beneficiary, in the event your primary beneficiary does not survive you, we suggest the following language:

If [name of primary beneficiary] does not survive me, I then hereby give, devise and bequeath _____ to Focus on the Family, a nonprofit organization located at 8605 Explorer Drive, Colorado Springs, CO, 80920, Federal Tax ID #95-3188150, [description of assets] to be used for Focus on the Family’s general use and purpose.

How do I join the Legacy Community?

Is my donation tax deductible?

Focus on the Family is a public, 501(c)(3) charitable organization and most gifts are tax deductible. This can create tax savings for you or your estate, relieve tax burdens on your heirs, and help create a larger gift to to the ministry. You or your estate will receive an acknowledgement letter for you gift which includes additional information on what portion of your contribution is tax deductible.

Can I designate my donation to a specific need?

Yes! You can designate your gift to any of your favorite programs or leave the gift as general support to the ministry, and have it applied where needed. If you would like to designate a portion or all of your gift to a specific program please reach out to our team so we can provide details on how to include a designation in your plans.

Where can I find your financial reports?

As part of our commitment to transparency and accountability, we gladly share our annual financial information, which is accessible for public review here.

How do I receive my Legacy Member benefits?

Once we receive notification that you have included Focus on the Family in your estate plans, we will mail out your Legacy Community welcome kit, which contains information about how to access your free magazine subscription (either for yourself or a family member) and the Focus on the Family Online Store discount and free shipping benefits.
